ERTAC Electric Generation Unit (EGU) Forecasting Tool

You are invited to a series of two webinars that will present a detailed look at the ERTAC EGU forecasting tool design and the results of a modeling run of future year 2017 predicated on base year 2007. Specific unit examples and overarching trends in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions will be provided.

ERTAC EGU TOOL INFORMATION:

The Eastern Regional Technical Advisory Committee (ERTAC) is a collaborative group focused on improving emission inventories. Members are state air agency staff; industry representatives; and multi-jurisdictional planning organization (MJO) representatives.

The EGU Forecasting Tool, developed by ERTAC, can be used to grow base year hourly EGU air emissions inventories into future projection year hourly EGU air emissions inventories for air quality impact assessment on both an annual and episodic peak basis. The tool uses base year hourly Clean Air Markets Division (CAMD) data and fuel specific growth rates and other information to estimate future emissions. Regional planning organizations, such as the Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) and Lake Michigan Air Directors Consortium (LADCO), plan to use this tool to forecast future EGU air emissions and use that forecast in Air Quality modeling for State Implementation Planning (SIP) purposes. The Southeastern States Air Resource Managers, Inc.(SESARM) may also use this tool in the next round of SIP planning, should the need arise for future year SIP inventory development work in the southeastern states.
