WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

MARAMA is offering training concerning stack testing intended for MARAMA member agencies staff that conduct or observe stack tests in order to quantify emissions and assess compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.  Agency permitting staff who attend the course will benefit from a richer understanding of the methods used to develop the emission limits that are incorporated into permits.

This course will present the basic principles of source test observation and the fundamentals of source testing methods, including Methods 1-5, 201, 201a and 202 sampling train and procedures.  Special emphasis will be placed on how to perform condensable PM sampling.  The status of recent final and proposed revisions to Parts 60, 61, and 63 will be reviewed.  Guideline and information documents will be identified and reviewed.  Information available via EPA’s Emissions Measurement Center website will be described.  The instructor will also discuss sample recovery observations, procedural inspections, calculations, report writing, and QA techniques.  Students will participate in a sampling train “mock inspection” and receive hands-on training.
