WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is designed for new, entry-level stationary source inspectors, regulatory agency staff, and environmental specialists in business and government.
Those completing this course will gain a basic understanding of the general information associated with air pollution control and enforcement. The following topics will be covered in this course:
- Targeting appropriate enforcement option, penalties, negotiation and case resolution follow-up
- Understand different violation resolution options
- Understand the procedure and documentation of the Enforcement and Compliance process
This course is designed for a student who seeks to understand the complete compliance assessment process including enforcement. The student should come away with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a productive member of a compliance team. The two and one-half day course will focus on the enforcement case process used by US local, state, and federal environmental agencies primarily the administrative and civil judicial processes.
Topics include targeting the appropriate enforcement option, penalties, negotiation, and case resolution follow-up. The course discusses violation resolution options, including informal action, formal notices, administrative orders and administrative consent orders, civil litigation settlement and case litigation. The importance of proper documentation and adherence to procedure will be emphasized. The course includes a combination of lectures, exercises, and role-playing.

NOTE: There is NO registration fee for state and local employees attending this meeting. A nominal fee will be charged for Federal employees.

Room Rate: $134.00 plus tax

Note: The nearest airport to the meeting is Newark Liberty International Airport. There is no airport hotel shuttle to the hotel, you will need to take a 15 minute taxi ride. There will be a complimentary shuttle from the hotel to the training facility every day. Daily rate includes free hot/cold breakfast buffet and WiFi.
MARAMA SUPPORT AVAILABLE
MARAMA will offer support to cover the cost of room and tax for up to 2 staff per MARAMA member agency. Supported attendees are responsible for all incidentals and travel. Overnight support is not available to those who live within 50 miles of the course location. If additional or alternative support is needed, pre-approval is necessary and a request must come from your agency’s Air Director (or their designee) and emailed to MARAMA’s Executive Director, Susan Wierman (email@example.com), as well as MARAMA’s Training Coordinator, Sue Dilli (firstname.lastname@example.org), prior to the event. A list of what type of support is needed, an estimate of additional costs, and the reason for the support is essential to include.
