Course Description

Class Length:  3 – day lecture course

High ambient levels of ozone have caused new standards and requirements for most major sources of nitrogen oxides. These include utility and industrial boilers, stationary gas turbines and reciprocating engines. This course starts with a review of combustion technology and the types of combustion sources, followed by a discussion of methods to reduce NOx formation by combustion modification. The operation of proven and developing back end control technologies is presented together with a general review of NOx regulation,

Target Audience

The course is targeted to air regulatory staff, but is also suited to environmental managers or environmental consultants from private industry

 MARAMA will offer support to cover the cost of room and tax (January 26th, 27th, and 28th) for up to 2 staff per MARAMA member agency.  Supported attendees are responsible for all incidentals and travel. Overnight support is not available to those who live within 50 miles of the course location.  If additional or alternative support is needed, pre-approval is necessary and a request must come from your agency’s Air Director (or their designee) and emailed to MARAMA’s Executive Director, Susan Wierman (swierman@marama.org), as well as MARAMA’s Training Coordinator, Sue Dilli (sdilli@marama.org), prior to the event.  A list of what type of support is needed, an estimate of additional costs and the reason for the support is essential to include.
