COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

The 200 Series courses (below) are intended for new, entry-level as well as semi-experienced stationary source permit engineers, inspectors, regulatory agency staff, and environmental specialists. Classes generally start at 8:30 AM and conclude at 5:00 PM.

Note: Please bring a scientific calculator with you to class.

Site Visits: Students must bring applicable safety equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, and safety shoes to participate in the field visits.

NACT 299 Draft Agenda

This two-day course is aimed at the new, entry-level as well as semi-experienced stationary source inspectors, permit engineers, regulatory agency staff, and environmental specialists in business and government. This course will provide a detailed introduction to air pollution control equipment and methods used to control particulate and gaseous air emissions. The course will cover theory, operation, applications, design considerations, inspection strategies, compliance assurance monitoring and regulations for cyclones, baghouses, wet and dry scrubbers, electrostatic precipitators, carbon beds, bio filters, condensers, flares, thermal and catalytic oxidizers. NOx controls like selective catalytic reduction (SCR), selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR), flue gas recirculation (FGR), and ultra-low-NOx burners will also be discussed).

NOTE: There is NO registration fee for state and local employees attending this meeting. A nominal fee will be charged for Federal employees.

MARAMA SUPPORT AVAILABLE

MARAMA will offer support to cover the cost of room and tax for the night prior to each course (July 17th and 18th for NACT 299, July 19th for NACT 273, July 20th for NACT 224) for up to 2 staff members per MARAMA member agency.  Supported attendees are responsible for all incidentals and travel. Overnight support is not available to those who live within 50 miles of the course location.

If your agency would like to request alternative support or additional overnight support OTHER than what is listed above, pre-approval is necessary and a request must come from your agency’s Air Director (or their designee) and emailed to MARAMA’s Executive Director, Susan Wierman, as well as MARAMA’s Training Coordinators, Jackie Burkhardt or Sue Dilli (training@marama.org), prior to the event.  A list of what type of support is needed, an estimate of additional costs and the reason for the support is essential to include.
