The rapid growth of data centers has created significant challenges for many air regulators around the country, particularly due to their ongoing and emergency energy demands. In just the mid-Atlantic region alone, energy demand from data centers is expected to increase by over 1,700 MW per year. To help air agencies understand the challenges posed by these facilities, MARAMA is hosting a 4-part webinar series on Data Centers and Air Quality.
Session 4: Environmental, Social, and Economic Considerations
What are the broader, long-term impacts of data centers that should be considered by those permitting or monitoring data centers? During this last session, panelists from various agencies and organizations will discuss the range of direct and indirect impacts of data centers that have raised public concern, including long-term grid planning/operations, environmental justice, and other sustainability issues.
