This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of the Environment.

The Administrator II Air Quality Data Analyst (Recruitment #20-002587-0039) is responsible for providing technical expertise and support for air monitoring projects related to the collection and analysis of data requiring the application of advanced statistical and visualization techniques. The incumbent in this position will have full responsibility for independent interpretation of data, designing and completing projects, and preparing final reports.

The selected candidate will occasionally work in the field and may drive a State vehicle. Employees that drive a State vehicle must maintain a driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland, with less than 5 points on their driving record.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for obtaining, compiling, and analyzing air quality data for evaluation purposes for a wide range of activities managed by the Air Monitoring Program.

Responsible for updating Air Monitoring Program website with interactive graphs and GIS applications that allow the public to visually understand changes in air quality in Maryland as well as understand how air quality in Maryland compares with national ambient air quality standards.

Serves as project lead on developing and performing analyses of air toxics using the data analysis and reporting tool (DART) for the chemical speciation network (CSN) data. Perform statistical analyses of the CSN data containing multiple sets of air toxics to determine if the data is valid and meets all EPA criteria.

Build and manage databases for analyzing air quality data. Write computer code to automate analyses and summarize large data sets as well as perform statistical analyses on these data sets.
