This is a position specific recruitment for the District of Columbia – Department of Energy and Environment, Air Quality Division.

This Environmental Protection Specialist (Air Quality Planner) position resides in the Air Quality Division, Department of Energy & Environment, and works under the general supervision of the Associate Director. The incumbent is primarily responsible for assisting and coordinating programmatic work for the District of Columbia’s (Washington, DC) air quality planning, air monitoring special studies, air pollution emissions inventories, air quality forecast and modeling, and air quality data analyses in support of the District of Columbia (DC) ambient air quality program. This Grade 09 Environmental Protection Specialist position requires basic knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods and techniques related to state/local air pollution control programs and air quality improvement plans, and demonstrates ability to develop skills in applying EPA-approved analysis tools and models such as Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES) and other emissions models for developing emissions inventories of the air pollution sources in DC. The incumbent must also demonstrate an appreciation for detail, accuracy and thorough documentation and an aptitude for understanding and articulating equity implications of air quality regulatory programs.
